How we verify providers

VanDeliveryApp and the other MBMT platforms are marketplaces — we connect you with independent local service providers. Here's what our verification badges actually mean and what we do and don't promise.

The big picture

MBMT Incorporated runs the technology that connects customers with movers, delivery drivers, labourers, cleaners and other local service providers. The providers are independent local businesses — not MBMT employees. When you book through us, you're hiring one of those independent businesses directly.

We help you decide who to hire by showing trust signals: which providers have passed our background check, are registered local businesses, carry business liability and cargo insurance, and so on. We rank verified providers higher in matching results and flag un-verified providers clearly. The choice — and the contract — is yours.

What each badge means

Background Check

Providers opt in to a background check arranged by MBMT through a third-party screening provider. When the check is clear, the provider receives the Background Checked badge. We re-run checks periodically and remove the badge if a provider falls out of compliance. We do not publish the specific report content — only the pass/fail badge status.

Local Business / Incorporation

Providers who supply legal proof that they are registered as a corporation, sole proprietorship, or limited partnership in their province or state receive the Local Business badge. This shows you that the provider runs an established local business — they file taxes, carry a registered name, and are accountable to their provincial / state corporate registry.

Business Liability Insurance

Providers who upload a current Commercial General Liability (CGL) certificate listing their business as the insured receive the Liability Insured badge. CGL typically covers third-party property damage and bodily injury arising from the provider's operations. Coverage limits, deductibles, and exclusions vary — if you need to confirm specific terms, ask the provider for a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly before your job.

Cargo Insurance

Applies to vehicle-based services only (Moving & Delivery, Curbside Delivery, Junk Removal)

Providers who supply cargo / goods-in-transit insurance documentation receive the Cargo Insured badge. This is the coverage that responds when items are damaged, lost, or stolen while in transit on the provider's vehicle. As with liability coverage, limits and exclusions vary; valuation coverage (Released-Value vs Full-Value) is a separate decision negotiated between you and the provider. This badge only applies to providers who offer a service requiring a vehicle (Moving & Delivery, Curbside Delivery, Junk Removal) — it is not shown for cleaners, handymen, landscapers, TV mounters, furniture assemblers, or other non-vehicle services.

Commercial Auto Insurance

Applies to vehicle-based services only (Moving & Delivery, Curbside Delivery, Junk Removal)

Providers who supply a commercial-use auto insurance certificate (the right policy class for for-hire moving, delivery, and labour) receive the Commercial Auto badge. Most personal auto policies exclude for-hire use, so this badge tells you the provider is correctly insured for the work they're doing. This badge only applies to providers who offer a service requiring a vehicle — it is not shown for cleaners, handymen, landscapers, or other non-vehicle services.

ID Verified

Providers who submit a government-issued photo ID, which MBMT reviews against the name on their account, receive the ID Verified badge. This badge confirms identity at the time of onboarding — not at the time of every job.

Vetting is optional for providers

Verified providers

Providers who opt into vetting and supply the supporting documents earn the relevant badges, appear higher in matching results, and unlock additional features on their profile.

Un-verified providers

Providers who haven't completed vetting (or who haven't supplied all of the supporting documents) can still appear on the platform, but they're flagged as un-verified and ranked after verified providers. You decide who to hire.

What we do not promise

  • Badges are based on documents the provider supplied at a point in time. We don't guarantee that an insurance policy is still in force on the day of your job — ask for a current Certificate of Insurance if that matters to you.
  • Coverage limits, deductibles, and exclusions vary across providers and policies. The badge confirms a policy exists, not that it will pay any specific claim.
  • MBMT is not the carrier, the mover, the cleaner, or the insurer. We don't perform the service and we don't insure your stuff.
  • If something goes wrong on a job, the contract is between you and the provider. We'll help informally where we can, but the provider is the responsible party.
